How much does it cost to charge a Nexon EV at home?

Short answer

30 kWh pack: 30 x 1.12 = 33.6 units, about Rs 235 at Rs 7 per unit. 45 kWh pack: 50.4 units, about Rs 353. Most Nexon EV variants accept about 7.2 kW on AC, so a 7.4 kW charger matches the car exactly and anything larger charges no faster.

Cost per full charge, both packs

Pack Rs 5/unit Rs 7/unit Rs 9/unit
30 kWh about Rs 168 about Rs 235 about Rs 302
45 kWh about Rs 252 about Rs 353 about Rs 454

Battery sizes are approximate gross capacity — confirm your variant.

Monthly running cost for 1,000 km

Assuming about 6.5 to 7 km per kWh of battery energy, 1,000 km needs roughly 143 to 154 kWh in the battery, which is 160 to 172 units at the meter.

At Rs 7 per unit that is about Rs 1,120 to Rs 1,205 a month. Your trip computer's efficiency reading will refine that quickly.

Charging time, and what sets it

Most Nexon EV variants accept about 7.2 kW AC — verify for yours. On a 7.4 kW wallbox:

  • 30 kWh from empty: 30 ÷ 7.2 = 4.2 hours, plus 10 to 15 percent, so roughly 4.5 to 5 hours
  • 45 kWh from empty: about 7 hours
  • On a 3.3 kW supply: the 30 kWh pack takes about 10 hours

Which charger to buy

A single-phase 7.4 kW charger matches what the car can take, so paying for 11 or 22 kW brings no benefit here. The PowerPod Lite 7.4 kW at Rs 45,000 is the direct fit.

If your apartment has limited sanctioned load, a 3.3 kW unit still fills the car overnight. Speed only matters if you routinely arrive home late and leave early.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charge a Nexon EV fully?

About Rs 235 for the 30 kWh pack and Rs 353 for the 45 kWh pack at Rs 7 per unit, after allowing about 12 percent for charging losses.

How long does a Nexon EV take to charge at home?

On a 7.4 kW charger, roughly 4.5 to 5 hours for the 30 kWh pack from empty and about 7 hours for the 45 kWh pack. On 3.3 kW, roughly double.

Will a 22 kW charger charge my Nexon EV faster?

No. The car's onboard charger accepts about 7.2 kW on AC, so a 22 kW unit delivers the same speed as a 7.4 kW one.
