Questions about this charger

How fast does it charge?

It delivers 7.4 kW, which is about 40-45 km of range per hour. Actual speed is set by your vehicle's onboard charger, so a car that accepts less will charge more slowly.

What electricity supply does it need?

A single-phase supply at 230 V, 50 Hz, rated for 32 A. Single-phase is the standard domestic supply in India, so most homes already have what this needs.

Will it work with my car?

Yes, if your EV has a Type 2 inlet. That covers Tata Nexon EV, Tiago EV and Punch EV, MG ZS EV and Comet EV, Mahindra XUV400, Hyundai Kona, BYD Atto 3, Citroen eC3 and every other Type 2 EV sold in India.

What connector does it use?

A Type 2 (IEC 62196) connector on a 5 m captive cable, so you do not need to carry your own cable.

Does it work without an internet connection?

It charges without internet, but session tracking, billing and remote monitoring need a connection. Connectivity is Wi-Fi standard, 4G LTE optional, and 4G keeps it online in basement parking where Wi-Fi does not reach.

Does it support OCPP?

Yes, OCPP 1.6J. It pairs with any OCPP-compliant central system, ours or a third party's, so nothing is locked to a proprietary backend.

Can I bill people for charging?

Yes. Every session is metered and can be billed through your OCPP platform.

How do I control who can use it?

Use an RFID card to restrict access to authorised users, or leave it in Plug-and-Play mode so it starts charging whenever a car is connected.

Can it be installed outdoors?

Yes. It is IP65 rated and built for continuous outdoor operation, in open or covered parking. Operating range is -30 to 55 degrees Celsius.

What electrical protection is built in?

The full IGPC5 suite: over-voltage, under-voltage, overcurrent, short circuit, surge, over-temperature, ground fault and residual current protection.

Does it measure how much electricity I use?

Yes. A Class 1 accuracy energy meter is built in, so every session is measurable.

Where does it mount, and how big is it?

It is a wall mount unit measuring 350 x 230 x 170 mm (H x W x D).

Who installs it?

Any licensed electrician can install it. We also offer installation as a paid add-on, quoted per site, because the cost depends on cable run, supply and civil work. Send us your site details for a quote.

What does the warranty cover?

Every charger carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty from RIOD India. For warranty support, email support@riod.in with your order number.

Can I return it?

What happens during a power cut?

Charging stops safely and resumes when supply returns. The protection suite also guards against the over-voltage and under-voltage swings that often accompany a restored supply.
