Questions about this charger
What sizes does the Lora EV come in?
Three: 3.3 kW, 7.4 kW and 11/22 kW. Choose by the electricity supply you have and how quickly you need to charge.
How fast does each one charge?
A 3.3 kW charger adds roughly 15-20 km of range per hour, 7.4 kW adds about 40-45 km per hour, and a 22 kW supply can fully charge a compatible EV in around two hours. Actual speed is set by your vehicle's onboard charger.
Will it work with my car?
Yes, if your EV has a Type 2 inlet. That covers the Tata Nexon EV, Tiago EV and Punch EV, MG ZS EV and Comet EV, Mahindra XUV400, Hyundai Kona, BYD Atto 3, Citroen eC3 and every other Type 2 EV sold in India.
What connector does it use?
A Type 2 (IEC 62196) connector on a 5 m captive cable, so there is no separate cable to buy, carry or lose.
Do I need a three-phase connection?
The 3.3 kW and 7.4 kW models run on a normal single-phase domestic supply. The 11/22 kW model needs a three-phase connection, because that much power cannot be delivered over a single phase.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. The charger is designed to keep working when there is no internet at the site, which matters in basement parking and in areas with patchy connectivity.
What is community charging?
It lets several people share one charger, each identified by their own RFID card or the app, so a housing society can run a shared charger without every resident needing their own unit.
How do I start a charge?
Three ways: plug-and-play, so it starts when you connect the car; an RFID card; or the mobile app.
What does the mobile app do?
It is used to start and manage charging and to set charging schedules.
What is the scheduling feature for?
It shifts charging out of peak tariff hours. Most DISCOMs charge more during peak demand, so charging overnight or off-peak lowers your electricity bill without you having to remember to plug in at a particular time.
Does it measure how much electricity I use?
Yes. A Class 1 accuracy energy meter is built into every unit.
What is the MID-certified meter option?
You can connect an external MID-certified meter where charging has to be billed against a legally certified measurement, which some commercial and society billing arrangements require.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Yes. The enclosure is IP65 rated, so it is suited to open or covered parking.
What electrical protection is built in?
Over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, under-current, residual earth leakage (AC) protection, and an over-temperature cut-off.
What do the indicators on the front show?
Three things at a glance: connectivity status, power status, and whether the unit is charging.
How is this different from the Lora EV Plus?
Lora EV Plus adds OCPP 1.6 secured with TLS, so sessions can be tracked and billed through a third-party charging platform. The hardware is otherwise the same. If you are charging at home, or sharing within a society without commercial billing, the standard Lora EV is the one you want.
Why is the price lower than the one struck through?
It is a limited-time launch discount on the Lora EV range. While the offer runs you pay the lower price; once it ends, the price returns to the figure shown struck through.
Who installs it?
Any licensed electrician can install it. We also offer installation as a paid add-on, quoted per site, because the cost depends on cable run, supply and civil work.
What does the warranty cover?
Every charger carries a 2-year manufacturer warranty from RIOD India. For warranty support, email support@riod.in with your order number.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 7 days, if it is unused and in its original packaging.
Still unsure? Email hello@riod.in and we will answer before you order.
