How much does it cost to charge a Hyundai Creta Electric?
Share
Short answer
42 kWh pack: 47 units, about Rs 329 at Rs 7 per unit. 51.4 kWh pack: 57.6 units, about Rs 403. Per kilometre at home that is around Rs 1.2 to Rs 1.4. On a 7.4 kW charger the bigger pack fills in about 8 hours — one night.
Cost per full charge
42 kWh: about Rs 235 at Rs 5, Rs 329 at Rs 7, Rs 423 at Rs 9.
51.4 kWh: about Rs 288 at Rs 5, Rs 403 at Rs 7, Rs 518 at Rs 9.
Cost per kilometre is similar for both packs, since efficiency is close — the bigger battery buys range, not cheaper running.
What it costs per kilometre
Assuming about 6 km per kWh of battery energy, each kilometre needs about 0.19 units at the meter, roughly Rs 1.31 per km at Rs 7.
A petrol Creta covering the same distance spends several times more on fuel. Your own trip computer is the best source for the efficiency figure.
Charging time on a 7.4 kW home charger
Taking the car's AC acceptance as about 7.2 kW — verify for your variant:
- 51.4 kWh from empty: 51.4 ÷ 7.2 = 7.1 hours plus 10 to 15 percent, about 8 hours
- 42 kWh from empty: about 6.5 hours
- On a 3.3 kW charger: 15 hours or more for the bigger pack
Check the trim before paying for more than 7.4 kW
Onboard charger ratings vary by trim and market, so confirm the AC limit in your owner's manual or with the dealer.
If it is about 7.2 kW, an 11 kW or 22 kW charger will not make it faster. Only if your car accepts 11 kW and you already have three-phase does the bigger charger save around two hours on a full charge.
