How much does it cost to charge a Mahindra BE 6?

Short answer

59 kWh pack: 66.1 units, about Rs 463 at Rs 7 per unit. 79 kWh pack: 88.5 units, about Rs 619. Few owners will ever do a full charge at home — 30 to 50 percent top-ups are the norm — but with a pack this size, charging speed starts to matter overnight.

Cost per full charge

59 kWh: about Rs 330 at Rs 5, Rs 463 at Rs 7, Rs 595 at Rs 9.

79 kWh: about Rs 442 at Rs 5, Rs 619 at Rs 7, Rs 796 at Rs 9.

Large packs make charging speed matter

On a 7.2 kW single-phase charger, the 79 kWh pack takes about 11 hours plus 10 to 15 percent, so roughly 12 to 12.6 hours from empty.

Higher-spec variants are reported to accept 11 kW AC — verify yours — which brings that down to about 8 hours on three-phase supply. For daily top-ups of 150 to 200 km, even 7.4 kW is comfortably enough overnight.

Public DC gets expensive fast

Adding 60 kWh at the reported KSEB DC day rate of about Rs 19.47 costs roughly Rs 1,170; at the reported night rate of Rs 27.41, about Rs 1,640.

That is still cheaper than fuel for a similar-size petrol SUV, but it is roughly three times the home cost. Use DC for trips, not for daily charging.

Monthly units can be high

A BE 6 driven 1,500 km a month at about 6 km per kWh needs 250 kWh in the pack and about 280 units at the meter. At Rs 7 that is roughly Rs 1,960 a month.

That is enough to push many households into a higher slab, and enough that your sanctioned load deserves checking before you install a 32 A charger.

Frequently asked questions

What does a full charge of a Mahindra BE 6 cost?

About Rs 463 for the 59 kWh pack and Rs 619 for the 79 kWh pack at Rs 7 per unit, after allowing for charging losses.

How long does a BE 6 take to charge at home?

Roughly 12 to 12.6 hours from empty on a 7.4 kW single-phase charger for the 79 kWh pack, or about 8 hours on 11 kW three-phase if your variant supports it.

Do I need three-phase for a Mahindra BE 6?

Only if your variant accepts 11 kW AC and you want the extra speed. For overnight top-ups of 150 to 200 km, a 7.4 kW single-phase charger is sufficient.
